Hair grow longer

Making hair grow longer is a lifelong commitment involving patience, common sense and general awareness. It requires a conscious and very determined approach to keep long hair looking beautiful. One thing that must be remembered is that each of us has what is called a “ terminal length” which is the maximum length to which hair can grow. Our genes determine the active period of the growth of hair follicles and this is different for different people. The secret formula for growth is to see that hair remains healthy. The age-old adage “ you reap what you sow” is not really out of place. If you start off with healthy hair in the first place, you will in all likelihood have tresses that glow with health.

In order to ensure this, callously snip off hair that is damaged even if it means sacrificing a few inches. Regular trimming of hair ensures that damaged hair is removed and this in turn augurs growth. Heat in the form of blow-drying, curling irons or crimpers stunts the growth of hair, so use them minimally. Regular use of hair color or chemicals with peroxide is harmful and prevents hair from growing longer. Avoid perming and if you must color use colorants that contain no peroxide. Keep the hair away from chlorine and saltwater while swimming by using a good bathing cap and condition hair to soften it. The sun can be disastrous for hair, so use a hat or a scarf while going outside. Hair jewelry like metal barrettes, plastic combs or even rubber bands can cause hair to break. Scrunchies are the best but if you want to do even better resort to hair sticks.

Hair under stress is not vitalized. Tight braids or coils weakens roots and prevents hair from growing longer. Crash diets and low calorie foods could deprive the hair of vital nourishment, so do not eliminate fat and carbohydrates from your diet. Protein is also very important because hair depends on protein for sustenance. A proper diet supplemented adequately by vitamins and minerals will optimize the genetic growth cycle. Any deficiency will be reflected in the volume and thickness of your hair. The luster in your hair will depend on what you eat and also on how you treat it. Brush your hair gently with boar bristle brushes or wooden ones.

They help to distribute the sebum to the ends of the hair. Untangle knotted hair gently working in small sections especially before shampooing. Work the shampoo into a fine lather by adding a little water and then work it into the roots of your hair and then move downwards towards the ends. Use a conditioner to soften the hair but do not rub it into the scalp. It could clog the hair follicles. Rinsing hair in cold water seems to be more beneficial for it flattens the hair cuticles and makes combing easier. While using conditioners and shampoos avoid the ones that cause problems (in spite of being touted vociferously). Once in a way deep condition your hair. Hair, like human beings needs to be pampered to allow it to grow longer.

To make gorgeous hair grow longer, oxygen and nutrients should reach the hair follicles. In tropical countries like India, hair loses its vibrancy and fullness very easily. To prevent this from happening, rub coconut oil or sesame oil into the hair, leave it on for an hour, and then wash it with a paste made from methi seeds and gram powder. It leaves the hair clean and glowing. You will have long silken tresses over which you can gloat. Use egg and curd as conditioners.

The ultimate truth is that for hair to grow longer, we have to eat healthy, exercise adequately, reduce stress and most important sleep well. Include B-complex, B6, and vitamin C, E to make up for any deficiencies. Eat green and yellow vegetables and a lot of fruits to get the required amount of beta-carotene. Avoid sugary and fatty foods, stay away from caffeine and carbonated sodas. These things block the growing potential of the hair. The result is lackluster, dull lifeless hair.

In short, there is no shortcut to making hair grow longer and healthier. On an average, hair grows at the rate of 6 inches annually. A slow process, but there are just no instant solutions. If you are in a hurry, go in for long wigs, hair extensions, or the clip on braids. The authentic variety takes its own sweet time.~
